History of Shidlai Union

Shidlai Union No. 2 Background of Rahmanpara Upazila: Brahmanpara Upazila is an ancient populous village. During the British rule in the early nineteenth century, it was part of Kasba Thana. It was included in Burichang police station in 1954 for administrative convenience. Then in 1986 this upazila was transformed into an administrative police station. As a result of administrative decentralization 

This upazila was upgraded to a full upazila in November. This upazila is located 22 km away from Comilla district town. From this upazila it is possible to travel all over Bangladesh by rail and road. This upazila is the birth place of many talented people. Among them the name of Major Md. Abdul Gani, the founder of Bangladesh East Bengal Regiment is particularly noteworthy.

 

Shidlai Union Parishad was established in 1980.
